KAIRA LOORO | UMBRELLA PAVILION

WHERE | Rural Senegal

WHEN | Spring 2020

PROJECT NARRATIVE

Completed in collaboration with Tulane School of Architecture faculty members Cordula Roser-Gray and Ammar Eloueini as part of the Kaira Looro Architecture Competition to design a semi-permanent emergency operations center (EOC) to be utilized in disaster response throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

Our proposal was centered around a singular "Umbrella" module made out of sustainable resources that could be aggregated to fulfill numerous programmatic needs synonymous with disaster relief. This flexibility warranted the creation of numerous forms capable of servicing the environment through numerous formal strategies.
